168 | Being CEO Dad and Husband in a Sh_tstorm with Scott Paul

Today on Mastering Midlife:

I’m trying so hard to keep it together. I’m trying so hard to show my wife and kids that I’m strong. I’m trying so hard to keep my company together and my team feeling safe. But what happens when I don’t feel safe and I am scared? I’m awake at 2am and realize how alone and confused I am. I wish this was all a dream. This new reality has to be hurting so many people mentally. “You are the guy who thrives in uncertainty, that’s what you are good at, this is what you love, Scott!”

Wrong. I’m weak and this is crushing me. Being at home with three kids and my wife should be so amazing, right? But I go from being super dad to acting like a total asshole at the flip of a switch. As I teenager, I watched Roberto Benigni in Life is Beautiful. I wanted so much to be the person who could turn a horrible situation into a positive. It is my favorite film and maybe worth a watch this week. How I wish I could have the strength and attitude of his fictional character right about now!!

God or Gods or Universe, please let us get to the other side of this swiftly. I can do it. You can do it.

Scott Paul – March 24th

My notes for this episode are simple.  Scott wrote a moving piece on LinkedIn about being a CEO, Dad and a Husband at the start of a pandemic.  Read the piece below, then join us for a very real conversation.  I walked away with the gift of knowing, you can be very, very, human, and still accomplish a whole hell of a-lot.  (ps: please pardon the audio issues).
