237 I Your Body Knows What it Needs With Dr. Christopher Ogilvie

Today on Mastering Midlife:

●      How meeting with Chris changed Marks life for the better

●      The common symptoms Chris observes in his practice

●      Why the typical American diet makes heart attacks all too common

●      The change you can see in 10 days under Chris’s guidance

●      How adrenal fatigue can be addressed through naturopathic medicine

●      Chris’s philosophy on the need for mutual trust with his patients

●      The difficulty with giving up accepted habits and the best way to do it

Today Chris joins me to discuss our own shared history as patient and doctor, and how that evolved into a relationship of friendship and mentoring, giving me a new lease of life at 50. Chris describes the all too common symptoms presented to him at his clinic: fatigue, swollen joints, weight issues, headaches; and how a change in diet and attitude can stop disease in its tracks. He discusses the patients with the highest chance of success, and those whose mindset keeps them from exploring inexpensive naturopathic remedies. Chris and I also discuss the seduction trap of the American Diet, and how we should tackle our accepted addictions, to live happier, longer, healthier lives.

“If we do all the things that the body appreciates based on that ancestral DNA, we can usually get back to where we want to be.” - Dr. Christopher Ogilvie

Dr. Christopher Ogilvie currently practices Natural Medicine with Falls Church Wellness, in Falls Church, Va.  Chris has worked with the San Diego chapter of Habitat for Humanity, Americorps VISTA, Guatemala Junior Achievement International, Peace Corps Guatemala, and Northern Virginia Family Service. It was in Guatemala he observed the kind of poverty created by a lack of nutritional education, leading him to a vocation in the study of nutrition. After 3 years of pre-med courses and 4 years of Naturopathic Medical Education, Chris started the Integrative Health Center of Virginia in Herndon, Va. Soon thereafter, he opened a second office in Alexandria, Va. He now works with people and their doctors to help them reduce their dependence on potentially harmful medicines and treatments, through food-based and energetic therapies.
